Hidden in the Greendark Forest is a village of gnomes, who take care of plants and animals. Among them is Bastian, a young man who loves to daydream and read. The others mock these eccentricities of his, but one day an alarm goes off: bees have disappeared in the forest! Bastian explains to his friends their importance to the ecosystem: without them, the forest would no longer grow! The gnomes set off on an expedition to the big hive and manage to overcome the obstacles thanks precisely to Bastian: the bees are asleep, fatigued from the previous year's overwork, and it is up to him to wake up the haughty Queen Bee and explain what has happened. Back in the village, the gnomes celebrate the return of the bees and the joy of Bastian, who will finally see his unusual talents recognized.
